Magic Lantern from “Imagine” Series

Inspiration:

In the childhood, nearly every kid believes that the world is magical, and toys and everyday objects are alive. Inspired by Miyazaki’s animation style and stories like Disney’s “Winnie the Pooh” and Soyuzmultfilm’s “The Mitten” (stop motion), this short would celebrate innocence and curiosity of children when they just start discovering the world and make it full of wonders with their unlimited imagination.

Audience:

For younger kids, age 3-5. The idea is to show how unlimited and important imagination is, and how fun it is to explore the world and everyday life with kindness and curiosity.

Development:

The short could be potentially turned into series. The series further on may involve other places – like inside the house, or a playground, and additional characters, such as other kids who have their own set of inanimate objects that come to live with the magic of imagination.

Imagine – a Pilot Episode: “Magic Lantern”

A little girl plays in a garden behind a house on a sunny afternoon. She is a little bit sad because she is by herself. All of a sudden she hears a tiny voice. She looks up and sees the Lantern who smiles and her and asks if she wants to be his friend. Then the Lantern introduces her to other friends in the garden – flowers, a water can, rain boots, a shovel (characters are flexible). They tell the girl what they do in the garden, how they love it, and how great that she came up to play with them. The girl understands that she would never be alone with such amazing friends. She ends up playing all day in the garden – talking (mainly – to the Lantern) and singing along.
